2017 Beaver Queen Pageant @ Duke Park

The Beaver Queen Pageant is Durham’s own special mix of folly, pageantry and humor. Contestants take on beaver personalities and compete for the title of Beaver Queen with their fashion, talent and personality. The theme for the 13th annual Beaver Queen Pageant is ‘Wizard of Gnawz’. Come enjoy the fun at this family-friendly and free event which raises funds for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association. Vote for your favorite contestants – or bribe a judge – at www.beaverqueen.org. Emcee’d by WUNC’s Frank Stasio, this is a truly weird and delightful Durham experience.

Personality Festival @ Uptown Roxboro

Personality Festival is a Roxboro tradition at the heart of Person County summer activities. What does it include? Amusements rides line Main Street. Food vendors travel from all over to bring us unique and delicious tastes. Craft and merchandise vendors introduce us to homemade items and wonderful new products. Local businesses interact with residents. Little Miss Personality is crowned on the Main Street stage Friday evening. Alive After Five presented by Roxboro Development Group gets the party started at Merritt Commons Friday night. Entertainment happens all day Saturday in front of the court house with musicians, singers and dancers. It’s 2 days of fun, sun, food….and more fun!!
